Another sketchbook drawing I threw some color on. commented about doing another scarecrow piece so I sketched one up real quick. I'm not sure if it is any more traditional than other ones I've drawn but this is what came out when pen went to paper. I kind of like the colors on this. It was originally more sepia colored but that seems to be the constant color theme with scarecrows so I tried something a little different and gave it a more purplish/blue feel to it. I also like the coat texture, I had a coat like that in high school.

Awesome stuff! Always been a fan of scarecrows, as you could probably tell already. With your permission, would it be alright if I use this picture on an article I'm writing for [link] ? Of course, I'll give full credit, and put a link to your website on the page as well.

Haha nice work!

Say have you ever read this book with 365 horror stories? There's this one about a sister who leaves her brother in a scarecrow because he was annoying her but while she was making sandwiches for them some crows came down and ate him.

Anyway, if you want to do a future work....maybe a faux movie poster of a zombie horde stuck in scarecrows...pretty freaky and rad...could you imagine? They sit there during the day and move at night? One night you fall asleep the next day your field is full of scarecrows?

Great work!

never can get enough of the scarecrow, whats not to enjoy about
them when seen as dark, zombie like entities? everything from their
burlap sack faces, stitches, tattered clothes, plus they seem like they
are always attached to crosses. why aren't they used more often in
horror movies, not including the corny, low budget ones?

well, love the overall murky brown palette and its perfect for this
time of year, then again, all your art is =P

Patricia Arquette, where she fells in love with a scarcrow? :pumpkin:

Yea, the one I remember is "the dark night of the scarecrow" where Larry Drake plays a retarded guy named Bubba who is wrongly accused of murdering a little girl. The townspeople hunt him down and he hides in a scarecrow as the people shoot hm. Then he comes back for revenge.

Great stuff!

I think i saw that movie years ago! I remember it being disturbing. Here's some usless knowledge, the guy who directed that movie wrote "The Entity".
And the guy who directed "Ringu", is doing a remake of "The Entity". COOL! Yah I'm a dork, but I imbrace it!
